Namibia @ WEF
Namibia at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2022
Namibia participated in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2022 that took place on 22 – 26 May 2022, in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland. This was the first time the country was invited to participate in WEF, one of the most high-profile meetings of global leaders.
WEF 2022 provided an opportune platform to position Namibia as a viable investment and tourism destination, showcase the country’s investment opportunities and attract sustainable investments that will fast-track our economic recovery interventions.
The Namibian delegation, under the leadership of H.E. President Hage Geingob headed to Davos with a clear agenda to announce that the country is open for business. Further to that, Namibia presented high value investment opportunities in key sectors (in priority areas including Renewable Energy with a focus on Green Hydrogen, Infrastructure, Transport & Logistics, Tourism, Agriculture and Oil & Gas) and engaged with potential investors with the aim of stimulating foreign direct investment needed to enable the country to build a strong, private sector led economy and inclusive growth that drives employment creation and other economic opportunities for Namibians.
The Namibia House, which served as the country’s base in Davos, hosted discussions, presentations, and other engagement sessions to highlight specific opportunities in the above sectors.
